Momentarily, all the annoyances of the last few weeks are coming back. The devious ways Cubans constantly try to extort money from us. The aversion when Daniela was robbed, the unwillingness from the police to do anything about the theft or even to write a report about it. And now this taxi driver is "forgetting" that an agreement has been made and the police are eagerly cooperating with him while they are unwilling to catch thieves. All the pent-up frustration is coming to the surface. And eventually, it explodes

[...]De gemoederen beginnen op te lopen. Het is nu duidelijk dat de taximan deze buit niet wil laten lopen. Er begint zich een kleine menigte om ons heen te vormen. Nu komen alle ergernissen van de laatste weken omhoog. De slinkse manieren waarop de Cubanen voortdurend geld uit onze zakken willen halen, het wegkijken van de Cubanen toen Daniela werd bestolen, de onwil van de politie daar iets aan te doen of er een rapport over op te willen maken, de taxichauffeur die nu ook weer een gemaakte afspraak ‘vergeet’ en de politie die daar gretig aan meewerkt terwijl ze te beroerd zijn dieven te vangen. Al die opgekropte frustratie komt naar boven. En ontploft.
